What’s happened with my crush please helpp?

So my crush found out I like him. When I saw him he stared from far but when I got close he was grinning and looked down at his phone. I saw him again a few weeks later he fully turned saw me and then just stopped in corridor waiting around for his friend but I knew he was waiting for me to leave first. A few mins later when I got past the corridor I saw him walking down alone. So at this point I just thought he’s not interested and is going out of his way to avoid me.

4 months later he sees me and we’re on a shift he’s so shocked throughout the day he found excuses to speak to me. He spent the day observing me. He even waited around till I left so he could have a good look at me. There were similar behaviours in the way he wouldn’t come where it was just us alone. However he was giving body language off in a sense which he wanted me to initiate conversation? I was just wondering how come he would be bothered to do this after so many months? I just can’t seem to understand what’s happened.

Well this is a common pattern in guys behavior. Your mistake is that you assumed he is not interested in you at first sight when he was working with his phone. In fact he was very interested!
This is really hard for me to explain but think of the way you play hard to get card. He knew if he stared at you there is a high chance of you looking away and ignoring him. Guys hate it when it happens. So instead he pretended to be waiting for his friend and playing with his phone to see your reaction. By doing that, he can read whether you like him or not by your body language without being rejected or ignored. In your case I guess he read your reaction as a + sign but he was afraid or shy to talk with you at the moment.

Later at night, like any other guy he regrets the opportunity he missed and thinks he might never see you again. but after 4 months he gets another chance to see you! This time he doesn't want to lose his chance and tries his best by staring at you.

He definitely likes you. If you like him as well stare back and smile at him then everything will work out ^^

This scenario happened to me many times and I guess also to many other guys as well:
We see a girl, oh she looks really cute ^^, does she have a boyfriend? Most probably. Wait she is coming by. What should I do? Do I tell her that she looks so cute? ofc not. You get rejected like all previous times. just work with your phone and pretend you didn't see her -0
[Then she walks away] damn I wish I told her something.

Later that night: man fuuuuuuuuk, I really wished I had said something to her. Damn she was so cute. And a heart full of regret remains.

Most guys don't get the chance to see her again but those who do make sure not to miss the chance for the second time.

I totally understand where you said he didn’t know what to do in the situation and waited behind.
I just thought if I knew someone had a crush on me I wouldn’t feel awkward, if I liked them back I would talk to them and if I didn’t like them back I would just ignore them. I mean it’s so much easier to feel comfortable knowing the other person is crushing on you. So that’s why I was confused as to why he was lingering around waiting for me to go.

I also wanted to ask how do I know the difference between him just liking the attention and getting a buzz out of all this or if he does genuinely want to get to know me/ like me? It is so hard to tell because he is VERY subtle in his behaviours. I really do like him but also don’t want to waste my time.

I mean he’s a really good looking guy so he definitely wouldn’t have a problem getting many girls. So in my head I just be thinking what are the chances he likes me? I do get called really pretty but I just don’t think im on the same level as him and he’s really tall aswell!

Also it's rare when you like someone and your crush likes you back don't you think?

Well at first this guy probably didn't know how to react when he learned that you had a crush on him. However after those 4 months he may began to process the idea and is just having trouble to be the initiator. That's why it seems like he wants to start a conversation but can't and why he keeps staring at you and not saying a word. He is just afraid I think.
