Why would a kid / a boy I know, look at me in the hallways and smile?

Why would a boy just look at me the same moment I quickly look at him? Catch eyes the same moment I catch his, in the hallways and then smile? Could the boy have just been smiling at his friend? He was looking towards me, so could he have been smiling at me and what would be a reason? I ignored him because he ignored me, and for some reason every time I avoid him, I sense him smiling, why would he smile? Could he be having fun with this? Just me avoiding him and blocking him from my view?
