Why would he tell my mom about our problems?

So I hadn't been talking with my boyfriend for few days because he said some hurtful things. He only texted me to ask where his glasses were and he called me but I didn't answer because I was busy. So he called my mom a few seconds later to ask the same thing and then he told her what happened and he didn't mean to hurt me or whatever but instead of telling me that he told my mom. Acting as if he wanted her to agree. He didn't even apologize and I'm not going to apologize for something he did.
