Guy texts daily but doesn't seem interested in my hobbies / activities?

A guy i met online seems to give mixed signals. We met in person a couple of times and he has told intimate / personal stuff about himself. He is currently unwell (undiagnosed illness since past few months) and doesn't seem to want to commit. He asked me if i was into him but refused to answer when i asked the same question.
He texts almost daily, usually some news items or forwards etc. But he doesn't respond to or seem interested in anything even remotely personal to me e. g. i shared one of my travel blogs with him and all he did was ask if it had pictures. He doesn't ask how my day was or my hobbies (he did in the beginning). As a result, my walls have started going up and i am avoiding initiating conversations with him. Super confused.

Side note, i am saggittarius and he is a virgo.

I would assume it was because he only passes time with you. You don't spend quality time with each other in real life, so he obviously isn't interested in getting to know you more.

Oh wow, you just voiced my thoughts. I did feel that he was just passing time with me n told him so. He claims its due to his health issues. I am nevertheless kind of taking a backstep n dont initiate any contact, n respond only as is politely necessary.

It's frustrating when someone has no interest in getting to know you when you chat everyday. So i totally get where you are coming from.

The way I view it is... someone's effort is a reflection of their interest in you. So if doesn't make an effort to ask questions about you and your personal life, that shows his lack of interest in getting to know you on a personal level

True. I guess anyone who cannot be bothered to put in the effort to attempt to know me, doesn't deserve me.

Great attitude to have. You deserve someone who genuinely wants to know you as a person. Not uses you to pass time

I believe that boy maybe an introvert or nerd who doesn't like to talk much or it can be his health condition as u mentioned. In these circumstances a lot of care and attention needs to be given to that individual to open up more.
