He pretends to like the same things as me. Does he like me?

My crush has been pretending to like things I like recently. For example, I was telling him my favourite tv show. I know he doesn't like it as I overheard him tell his friends he can't get into that series. But he told me he loves that show.
Then another time I was saying something about a book I liked and he said that was his favourite book. I'm pretty sure he just said that as I don't think he even reads much and it was quite an obscure one.
There's been a whole lot of other examples I won't bore you with but do you think this means he likes me? Why would a guy pretend to like things that he doesn't?

Sometimes guys try to like the same thing as you so you can have something in common, so things want be difficult
