Why is a guy who flirted with me at first is now talking to my bestfriend and ignoring me?

There's this guy that flirted with me at first but I acted distant a bit cause I didn't expect that from him all of a suddeb and after that he started talking to my bestfriend and is ignoring me to point that he says hello and goodbye to my friend but acts as if I don't exist also the other day when we entered the elevator he also came with my friend and I then asked her to drive her but sounded nervous when I looked at him and he was looking away
I usually am not this analytical about a situation but since I have a crush on him I really want to find out about this situation?
Is he interested in my friend and I should stay away from him?

It's possible he was just messing around with you and now is avoiding you because he is actually interested in your bff.

This happened with me but reversed, I was the bff the guy was my future husband.

It's also possible that he was interested but you pulled away so he took it as you weren't interested so he moved on to your bff.

The only way of knowing for sure is to ask him or maybe ask your bff if they are a thing. You can drop it if they are and better to just move on if they aren't you can tell your bestie how you feel about him and what happened then reach out to him. I would hate this to turn out the way it did with my bestie.
