Do guys shit talk their ex on a personal level to new flings and hookups?

I broke up with my ex a year ago. we don’t talk, see, or follow eachother (we’ve had eachother blocked on everything since we ended). We have always lived on opposite sides of the city so we never knew the same people personally. my instagrams public even tho I don’t have any pictures posted or a pfp. I occasionally post a shitty meme or news article on my story and I’ve noticed on multiple occasions that girls my ex talked to before we got together and after we ended are viewing my story. Me and those girls don’t know any of the same people and I wouldn’t even know they exist if it wasn’t for my ex. Since our only link is him I’m assuming the lurking is because he’s talking bad or posting about me? It doesn’t sound like something he’d do but then again It’s been a year and people change and that’s really the only explanation I can think of considering I’ve kept to myself and been private since we ended
