Why does he act shy all of a sudden?

I dont know whats up with the person I am talking about. it's like, once upon a time when we need to remain in the same closed space like suppose in class, I clearly noticed him look at me. I too looked at him and many a times the eye contact remained intact for 3 secs or above. But recently this person seems to deliberately avoid eye contact with me and when we are standing or walking side by side and taking or when we are less than 6feet away from each other he would look everywhere, other than into my eyes. in general too he avoids eye contact more as compared to in the past.
I am getting nuts trying to fathom whether he likes me or ever likes me for that matter or not? why does he avoid looking at me now?

Maybe your eyes are just extremely beautiful and he can't handle that level of beauty.
