Whats up with people who can talk on and on without needing a word from you?

My boss and a coworker are like this. I have tried to say something while either talks "to" (more like "at") me and i usually get cut off and they dont even listen nor care to hear or know that i even said anytning. The weird part is that people like this want to then make me feel like something is wrong with me by saying 'no offence but you're quiet'... Uhh, really?

I have experience this so much at work it’s crazy! It seems to usually be older people, like at least 40. I don’t know
How you go on and on about yourself and don’t ask about the other or let the other talk and not feel like a piece of shit, so I’ve just gotten to the point I don’t fuck with people like that. Anyways, my theory is they’re really lonely and no one listens to them except the people they “make” listen. Usually older people have kids old enough to be out of the house or doing their own thing and are either single or in a shitty relationship where their emotional needs aren’t being met. My boss is an older man who fits your description. I have met another older man who would have one sided convos with me as well but I didn't mind really because he would give me advice about eating healthy which i appreciated especially coming from a person with so much life experience. However my boss goes on and on about work related topics mostly and it just got to the point where i felt like he just talks to hear himself talk.
