When he is raging he even says he doesn't want to see or talk to me, because he doesn't want me to see him in this state and ve is afraid he can say hurtfull stuff to me

Go to therapy with him or just enforce if you care about me you need to work on yourself. Some self therapy things you can do with him, whenever he’s mad get him to write down whatever is troubling him on paper then take a walk to a park and burn it, another thing get him to sign up to boxing, or any combative sport…. Now that might sound scary to you but combative sports reach you discipline and help navigate that negative energy built up in you… after all the human body is cells and atoms, therefore we have energy, his just seems to be very negative and needs to be navigated in a way where he can control it
To say anger issues are a red flag is a understatement. Because there is always a chance that you will become a target for them. I'd say leaving him is your only option.
Leaving him is the only option. If you're not going to leave him, then suck it up because you're going to be dealing with that forever.
