Guy's Behavior

Does he like me or did I misunderstand this guy who constantly sneaks glances at me and scared him off by asking for his insta?

So at the gym there’s this guy who would sneak glances at me often, but I ignored him and recently I opened up to have a relationship so I noticed him and kinda started crushing on him hahah. So I asked for his insta and didn’t make small talk because I was a bit shy and basically ran away after asking for his Insta.. while I was asking I noticed he looked away and tried hard not to look at me while speaking. He didn’t text me and neither did I since I wanted the next time we talk to be in person. Misión failed because when I saw him again I looked at him, said hello smiling (he did it back) and then continued with my workout without looking or talking to him back, he seemed disappointed and I know I did wrong but I was a total coward :/.
I apologized on a voice message because I didn’t want him to think I was ignoring him, and assured him I would definitely talk to him next time, to which he replied “yes, everything’s good 😌”. He looks at my stories but I know that doesn’t mean anything lol, his friend who I don’t follow and he doesn’t follow me back watches my stories today, but that could also be a coincidence. I think I misunderstood him, what do I do now?
