Is it wrong of me to think my boyfriend is a complete douchbag?

Hi there, I've been with my boyfriend for nearly 3 years, i find him to be a complete douchebag, we live together and i go to work, cook and do all the house work. He does work, but never helps me around the apartment, I've got to either do it all before i start work or after i finish. Its gotten to that point that im always tired and sleep a lot, especially on my days off. I never have time for me, only when i go to the gym, but i can only go for 30 minutes.

when i clean the apartment he watches me or pretends not to notice, sometimes he will throw rubbish on the floor, while i clean it up. If i ask him to do 1 thing, he has a tantrum first. He watches me while he sits in front of the xbox. He yells and screams at the xbox and on a day off work, can wake up at 9am and play it all day until 10pm. I can't watch tv during these times, especially on his day off. He tells me who i can and can't have over (i pay for my share in rent, internet and electricity too) and if we do anything together, he walks around with his arms crossed sighing cause he misses the xbox and would rather be at home with it, stead of shopping with me. We never do anything now and i always say “you can go home, ill be fine here by myself. You might miss something on the xbox”, we never spend any time together anymore, i never invite him to anything, due to him having a negative input, he “hates the place” or the xbox needs love. If i had it my way, id smash the xbox, this guy is 30 and will be 31 next year and the way he acts, I seriously think he needs to grow tf up.

If i dont do something around the house, like repairs, putting new furniture together etc, it never gets done. He also has hygiene problems and never showers because of the xbox, i hate being near him sometimes. I love when his at work and i have half a day to myself, i get to stay home and dont hear him yelling like a 13 year old that keeps dying on fortnite

Sounds like your douchbag boyfriend has an addiction & unfortunately he’s choosing his Xbox needs above your needs so take a good look at your future because it’s right in front of you unless you change it. On the other hand your not his girlfriend your his mommy. You go to work, you cook & you do the cleaning & you clean up after him & he doesn’t help you around the apartment. Good luck!

Funny you say that, we were really good friends before we started gaming, i will admit i used to game, now i dont as much. I work and do a lot of crafty stuff, he was sleeping with me and this girl that younger then the both of us. Me and him got close, then he ditched me out of blue and ghosted me for a month, while he chased after this other girl (she had a boyfriend and a man lined up out of the country, she went to marry). We he found out that i was chatting to someone else, he came running back like nothing happened, my feelings for him were actually still present. We acted like boyfriend and girlfriend, he brought me around his family, etc. but he wouldn't admit to it, then he was kicked out of his parents and i offered a bed for him. Now we live together, there has been times, where he has gone back to hang out with the other girl and her sister and sisters husband and his comes home and just hates my guts. Cause they all talk crap about me, but i dont care. Im the one that has to support my boyfriend, even though he earns double digits, i have to cook food (cause he can't), clean up when i finish work, look after our pets and try and do what i like. I really wouldn’t care if he went off with another girl, cause id be like “he can't cook for the life of him, doesn't know how to use a washing machine and has never cleaned a room in his life. Good luck”. 30 years old and he still hasn't grown up, i dont have a problem playing the game for a short time, but being addicted to his point, is fkd (in my opinion). I have learnt how to do a lot of handy work around my apartment, like fixing certain things.

How are you “supporting him” if he is still paying his share of the bills? You mentioned you pay your share, which implies that he also pays.

Honestly he doesn’t sound like much of a boyfriend. And you’ve been putting up with this for THREE YEARS? Why?

No seriously. Why?

Girl life is too short. It passes FAST. You know this guy isn’t the one for you. You KNOW this. In your bones you know this.

And you’re still with him. This isn’t an attack on you, just, get out sis. You deserve someone much, much better than this guy. I know it’s going to really suck splitting up the household and figuring out new living arrangements, but you owe it to yourself to get someone better, and if not that, then at least you could come home to a clean apartment at the end of the day, because it’s your place and yours alone. God, think about all the extra stress and crap you’ve had to endure. I’m not saying you’re going to go out and meet the man of your dreams. But you at least won’t have to live with this guy and you can have your own place, because he’s holding you back and dragging you down. Just the way I see it.
