Why is this guy hostile towards me for no reason?

Not dating, just mutual friend. I met a girl, and she told me she wanted to introduce me to her group of friends. Met them all, very friendly, even this guy. Hung out with them again, again great vibes. But this time the guy was acting standoffish, annoyed, and very awkward. Wouldn’t really make eye contact, kept snapping at me, extremely hostile. Mind you, this is the second time I am meeting him and I haven’t spoken to him before. There is no way I could have offended him in anyway. When I speak in the group, he rolls his eyes or kind of scoffs. Like I just feel intense hatred from him. He’s hostile towards me and yet stares at me to the point that it makes me uncomfortable. He acts strangely nervous and almost like he’s trying to impress me, but at the same time disapproves of me and despises me. I kind of stay away from him because he’s scary. I don’t really care if he likes me (if that’s the case) because being rude and hostile towards me isn’t going to get him anything but me running far away from him. He will come up to ME and start a conversation, and be rude and nervous the whole time in which I have to find a way to politely excuse myself out of the situation because I get so uncomfortable by his energy. I don’t approach him to talk, because he has made it clear it’s unwelcome. We’re not kids or teens. We’re adults. I’m not sure if I should pull him aside and clear the air (although i’m scared he’ll snap at me and act completely rude) or just ignore him because he doesn’t even deserve my attention. Thoughts?
