I feel like I’m overthinking this situation and I don’t want to. I went out for a walk and I decided to stop at a food spot to get some food. The people there were nice and the customer service was 10/10. I thought the guy cashing me out was cute but that was about it. I put my phone down on the counter to take the cash out my wallet to pay him and it was right in front of me and in sight. I’d never forget my phone on the counter…ever. He gave me my food and I said, “thank you”. As I was reaching for my phone, he picked it up and I thought that was kinda weird because “why are you touching my personal property?” Some things you don’t do in customer service but I left it. I didn’t think he was trying to steal from me. He handed my phone over to ne as he said, “Get home safe”. I took it, said thank you and walked away. I thought it was weird but I’m really trying to understand what that was about. Was he just being nice?
He was indeed just being nice and nothing more. No stealing, not trying to pick you up, no nothing else but just being nice to a customer.
You yourself said that the service was 10/10 and he may have been trained to help out customers by assisting them with little things such as handing them their phones or perhaps giving them a tissue if he realizes that they need one.
Those are simple gestures that mean nothing more than "thank you for your business with us".
Don't overthink it unless of course, you think there should be more than a simple gesture of kindness.

Sounds like he was just being sweet,, maybe he was in a good mood at the moment ☺️ I wouldn't make anything out of it
Yeah, you’re overthinking it. He was not hitting on you even though it was your property. I get that’s a little weird bug he was simply being nice.
Seems a bit creepy because its your personal property, but I think it was just his way of being nice.
