Why do you think he did what he did. Does this mean he’s just a nice person?

I feel like I’m overthinking this situation and I don’t want to. I went out for a walk and I decided to stop at a food spot to get some food. The people there were nice and the customer service was 10/10. I thought the guy cashing me out was cute but that was about it. I put my phone down on the counter to take the cash out my wallet to pay him and it was right in front of me and in sight. I’d never forget my phone on the counter…ever. He gave me my food and I said, “thank you”. As I was reaching for my phone, he picked it up and I thought that was kinda weird because “why are you touching my personal property?” Some things you don’t do in customer service but I left it. I didn’t think he was trying to steal from me. He handed my phone over to ne as he said, “Get home safe”. I took it, said thank you and walked away. I thought it was weird but I’m really trying to understand what that was about. Was he just being nice?
