The concept of "negging," is a trick that pickup artists use. They give a girl a compliment, and then take 50% of the compliment back. The theory is that the woman will now struggle to get the other 50% back. They will move mountains just to get that 50% back. So while all the other ass-kissing guys are vying for her attention, she's ONLY interested in the one guy who stole 50% of her compliment. (Google it) It's referred to as a "backhanded compliment."

And the answer to the question of "why" is pretty simple... exactly ONE thing works when it comes to being a PUA, and that's 1) being attractive, coupled with not being a complete and total asshole. As long as you are NOT a complete and total asshole, and you're attractive, you'll be successful.

I actually first learned of this concept on GAG. I then did a Google search, and there were a ton of videos on it. I was amazed that it actually worked, but apparently it does. But this is just one of the MANY tricks that PUAs have in their bag of tricks.
