Guys what was the deciding factor in deciding to propose?

My man is 53 never been legally married but was with kids mom 20yrs so loyalty not an issue. They talked about marriage early on but he just wasn't feeling that and time got away where it just didn't seem important. With me he talks about the future as permanent like we will live our lives out together and trying not to make the same mistakes he did with her. Wondering what you men saw as the deciding factor to propose to your wives/finances? Trying to see if his recent actions point to him considering the big Q...

That's a tough one these days because modern marriage is very unappealing to men now. I have never been married and have never dated a woman I would consider marrying. If I did, she would have to meet some very specific requirements for me to consider it.

She pursued me. She asked me to marry her. She put forth effort. And I knew that she was going to be loyal. You just don't find that in women now a days. I'd have been a fool not to marry her.

We just kinda figured why not. Werent dating anyone else. Life seemed ideal and rosy. So I got her a ring and was like lets do this. Thst was over 10 years ago.

Loyalty wouldn't have been an issue... if they had actually stayed together. He had her kids, but didn't stay with her. That's disloyalty
