How long does it take to get over awkwardness after a confession?

I confessed to my guy friend end of Nov last year. I got rejected but I told him I was ok with that and still wanted to be friends. That was the most important thing to me. He said he will pretend the whole confession didn't happen. I gave him the space I thought he would need. I didn't call or text him for a month when we would usually text everyday. In the same way, he didn't text me either, even when he knew I was sick and would usually check up on me.

But now im feeling hurt. Because I have given him space and I told him I still wanted him as a friend. He agreed with that but I left him a birthday present on his desk at work and he didn't even say thanks or acknowledge it. When I try to text him, he replies but takes 6 hours to reply EACH message. And he replies with one word answers. When I try to talk to him, he stares blankly and keeps quiet.

Was confessing so wrong? I needed to tell him so I would stop waiting for him since he was giving mixed signals. But now he's treating me worse than a stranger. It's like I'm not even there and he doesn't care about me anymore when he used to care so much. Is it because he hates me now or must I just give him more time?

You are so lucky he rejected you this guy is arrogant
There is no reason you act this way toward you. Just because you told him you like him and so what? People get married have kids together sometimes even worse than this and still they communicate properly as humans.
There is no trains he is doing what you are reacting now! Making you feel bad. And he won. Don’t give him ANY ATTENTION at all fuck him and why do you want to be friends with him!
Ignore him that’s what he needs. So he realizes he is nothing too. Don’t raise him into the air as if he is Simba. From now on don’t talk to him don’t say don’t say bye don’t smile to him. I don't know why he is behaving like that. You just confessed your feelings and got rejected and told him that it's ok we can still be friends. And also gave him one month space.

I think his ego is stopping him to talk to you like how he can talk to a girl whom he have rejected and he might still think that you would try to find a way talking to him.
