Don’t know if it’s an Australian thing but boys will look at you and walk up to whatever boy you’re with and fist bump or high five him and move on.
They usually don’t know eachother either.

The guys giving the high five probably thinks you’re gorgeous. He’s giving the other guys with you props for talking to a gorgeous girl. It’s that simple, as if to say, “nice job man; I hope that goes well for you.”

Probably one of the numerous side effects of high internet consumption.
Boys have to do whatever others do on the internet or on social media, just to fit in and to be popular. It does not really have any meaning but it proves one thing.
Humans are mammals that like to copy what others are doing. Today it is high five and fist bump, tomorrow will be a 360 degrees revolution around your own axis and next year, whatever those bimbos and other self-proclaimed influencers will have found to be the trend for the coming months.
Don't you worry, it is not just an Australian thing, it is a worldwide craze by those that have nothing better to do to copy what others have declared to be cool.
