Why would a guy just stare and smile without saying anything?

So this guy friend of mine and I were chatting away at a bar last night. It was going great, not awkward or anything, and the conversation died down for a minute. I realized we were just staring and smiling at each other for like ten seconds. I said “what?” And he said “what?” back and laughed. Then someone came up and interrupted us. It felt oddly tense between us, like something was left unsaid. I am admittedly attracted to him. Does it sound like he might be into me too?

It sounds like you both have a thing for each other. Usually when this happens to me, the girl has a crush on me and I usually like her. He might have been a little shy and was probably waiting to see if you would make a move.

There's no rule that say a guy has to make the first move, at least I don't think there is, lol. Probably an unwritten rule maybe, but us guys don't mind if the girl makes the first move. It helped me out a couple of times, lol.

But yeah, he likes you.

Hi might be, or might just be socially awkward, or he could have been bored at that moment. Don't over think it or treat it as an instance in a vacuum. It's part of the larger picture. Look for that instead.
