Why should it be allowed that men can go walking around freely, without a shirt, but yet women with "enlarged mammary glands" cannot? 🤔 This, to me, is VERY sexist.. Because it not only means WE have to suffer more with the heat, but because you don't provide potential food to children, and men find them sexual, we have to cover them up.

Especially in the summer heat, it's unbearable for many people to go about their day without feeling the sun's harsh rays on their skin. @8UniquelyBoring8 Excess heat and sun can also turn your chest to rubber and wrinkles, cause premature aging of the skin there, and also melanoma/skin cancer. The chest has very sensitive skin on it. The sun beating down on it does it no favors.
Women have more private areas than men. We cover our private areas in Western society. Simple.
Also, porn and the sexualisation of women’s bodies are very common in Western society. In other cultures, women can walk around topless because the chest area isn't seen as sexual. It's seen as the area to nurture a child.
For me, no. I don't see it as a sexual thing. I see it as a part of the body that feeds a child. Men view it sexually. We need to cover ourselves because of men.
In Japan here, public breastfeeding used to be commonplace when I was growing up in the 80s, and not discreetly. When I was boy, women would whip out both of their breasts to feed the babies. Our onsen (public baths) also used to be largely coed with naked men and women bathing together.
Something seemed to change in the 90s and onwards where women felt need to cover up. I don't know what it was exactly but I'm thinking more influence from the West. Like Hollywood films will rate a movie R if it shows women's breasts, even in a non-sexual context. And Western strip clubs started to become popular in Japan where topless women dance on poles. The breasts became far more culturally sexualized.
I think that's also why I don't get so excited going to topless bars. My Western friends have taken me to topless bars and they seem to get so horny but I just think the women are lovely with nice bodies dancing on the poles.
Japanese always sexualized the genitals even when I was boy and it was always considered inappropriate back then to expose those in public. But not so much women's breasts. The idea of sexualizing women's breasts so much seems to be something of a Western influence.

@anon1903 but there IS something charming, aesthetic and beautiful about even a girl's skin be it of her shoulders, her legs/thighs, feet or belly... the female skin in itself is so soft , smooth, aesthetically charming and add to it the female body shape which enhances it further. I have read that women getting felt up on public trains has been a problem. Women might have been fed up with the abuse and decided to cover themselves up? Yep. Even though it's legal for women to do it where I live, I think that's why they don't do it, and is why I haven't seen anyone do it in over 20 years. It's totally understandable. I know I probably wouldn't for the same reasons if I were a woman.

For it being sexist, I am iffy about it if you want to be technical (I can see arguments for either or). Women's chests are very different from men's, since boobs are very sexualized and their bodies overall are across the board, so I do think it's very different.
Also, I would fear for women who'd go shirtless to become victims of SA, since it could make them a target for creeps. I imagine many women would already fear it themselves, so there'd be a lack of it. However, apart of me does feel like it should at least be an option.
For every inequality that you feel oppresses you, you have (AT LEAST) one that benefits you at the expense of men. I *seriously* doubt you would want to trade your benefits for men's benefits in the name of fairness, because you'd also then have to accept the limitations and responsibilities that come along with them.

Talk to some trans-men who have been living as men for at least 3 years. Like I've said millions of times to this type of question. I am 100% for women to do so but you honestly as a woman would never want to do this even if legal. Guys already stare and make women feel uncomfortable how uncomfortable will you be when some guy stares at your breasts, when some guy gets hard because welp they can't help that. Many places do in fact allow women to go topless. For instance in my state if your not doing it to arouse then it’s allowed. But almost no one does. For the most part also, its women that keep the stigma going. Women use them as leverage against men. Do men like boobs, ya! But just like when we see a woman not wearing a bra under her shirt. We look and keep going on with our business. If women actually went topless like in Spain and other places it would take a little but eventually the stares would subside. At first you would get some looks. But eventually even most men would just accept its just another topless woman. Just like society did with men.
It's been legal for women to be topless - i. e. nude from the waist up - in outdoor public places in my province of Canada since 1996. Although, other than at nude beaches, no one does it. In the 27 years since the law was passed, I have only personally seen it twice, and the last time was probably 20+ years ago. Although, sometimes women go topless at concerts. Usually only while on their boyfriend/husband's shoulders it seems. Honestly, I think it's no big deal. If a woman wants to do it, it's her right to do so. Society just needs to grow up.
depends on what you mean by shirtless because there’s two interpretations of that.
First is the literal interpretation, which would be without a shirt and that’s fine I guess. I mean I don’t think anybody should be going around on like public transportation or to the grocery store without a shirt even men but I mean I guess if they can do it then as long as you have like something covering your chest it’s fine.
The second interpretation is letting your boobs flop around in the wind, like a piece of meat, stuck to a flag pole. That one isn’t so OK. I’m not gonna go into the science of it, but boobs are a female reproductive organ and shouldn’t be up for public display. Not gonna argue about why but the simple explanation is boobs are female reproductive organs that men have evolved to have a natural attraction to.
Mens nipples are so small and usually have some kind of haur around it... also the overall skin on the torso isn't that soft and smooth as it is on female torso

I have always thought that it was stupid that guys can go topless almost anywhere and women can't. We need to normalize all nipples. It isn't fair, and it's probably sexist (I voted as much too), but I wouldn't put it all on men. I think we as a society have decided that boobs are sexy, and while I do love boobs, it is silly. If you look at some pretty women in cultures where they don't hide their tits, there's not really anything sexual about it, because they're not making it a thing, and we know it's just the norm for them.
So, if you want to go shirtless and act like it's nothing, then I think you'd have to convince people first that boobs shouldn't be sexualized at all, since that's the real issue. And I bet you that if you do, a lot of women are going to argue against that ^^

Non-consensually touching a woman's bare chest in public however, you become a registered sex offender. First, you will lose more of your feminine mystic if you free the nipple. Secondly, many women don’t have appealing breast when viewed in daylight. Misshapen, different sizes from the left to the right one, some nipples are a bit ugly, some are too flat and some are too floppy. The expectation will be that if you don’t show them at the beach or other places then they have problems. Pressure will be on young ones to show and even old ones if they might look good.
How will they even tan? Underboob will be underdone… sun damage will also make them look worse as they age. Cleavage won’t matter anymore when dressed. Underboob, sideboob etc won’t be interesting at all. Anyway, the more we see on the regular the less interesting it gets.
Well Im from Spain and here things are different I guess... women can go topless in the beach but most of them prefer wearing the top, I would say that 1/100 women prefer doing this in public. Is It because of a sexist society? Maybe, but at the end a lot of women prefer wearing it because (and i quote my sister) "wearing the top in public is elegant and women tend to like people looking at them with good eyes" because at the end would you be comfortable if everyone looked your breast that is suposed to be like something private or sexual for women? Wouldn't you feel harashed with people looking at it? At the end the breast is a sexual part of women's body in our society... why is it ok to touch guy's pectorals but it isn't to touch that part of the woman body? Its all the conception of the woman body in our society since hundreds of years. I really dont know what side choose in this post but I wanted to give this reflection :)

Honestly this is the law. If you asked your average man who doesn’t make these laws sure we’d say go for it. Now that’s looking at it from a sexual perspective. Of course yes being a hypocrite I don’t want to see a girl whose tits are ah going down to her belly button or women who are grossly overweight, etc, etc. But if the cute ones can do it, to be fair sure the ugly ones can to you just don’t look. But then in western culture women’s tits are sexualize so men are going to look to which women are going to complain. Now over time maybe it just becomes normal so we won’t look as much. I don’t know. But then men if we stopped looking then women would be complaining why don’t men check me out. Now she’s insecure, wondering if she’s gross, are her tits disgusting, etc. Plus it kinda of takes away that mystery. Now I don’t have to ask chicks for tit pics I can just see whichever ones I want assuming they’re going to mess.
It's natural, women have to cover both upper part and lower body part. While men have to cover only the lower part. If women start going topless all men would stare at the upper part, breasts. You know, all men are attracted to breasts naturally. Girls / women's breasts are the most attractive body part to me. This is what makes women look more feminine. Don't take it as a sexist remark if you have to cover it or don't take it as a sexual harassment if we stare at it. That's how we men are attracted to the opposite sex.
I think very few men would mind women walking around topless but it's not appropriate. I think the best and closest we can get to that would be bikini top. But I must admit I don't really experience that level of heat that requires me to need to strip down that low.
