Is a ring on the right hand a symbol of marriage/engagement or being in a relationship?

There's a guy in my neighborhood who always scopes me out.

He tried chatting me up but kept freezing.

Finally, he managed to look me in the eye and we exchanged "hello"s.

I noticed he wears a thin silver band on his middle finger on his right hand.

He is always staring from afar watching me intently but also breaking and avoiding eye contact -- I do the same because his staring weirded me out.

I can tell he and his co-workers talk about me because I've seen them and also they will look at him and stare at me when I go to his place of business.

He engages in "look at me" behaviours when I'm around

• Preening
• Always walking back and forth
• Adjusting his clothes
• Fidgeting a lot
• Even trying to show off his butt (kinda gross)
• Signing a tune if I'm nearby
• Being bossy to the cooks in the kitchen and trying to look serious and in charge

All of these antics for quite some time makes me thing he just wants validation from me and nothing else.

I've always seen him smoking and would always look at his cigarette in disgust. I haven't seen him smoking for the past little bit.

Since he keeps sending signals but does nothing is his ring a sign of him being in a serious relationship?

Just did some research, and in some Middle Eastern countries, people wear the wedding band in the right hand and switch it to the left. It's a Syrian restaurant and he doesn't look Moroccan so I think my suspicions are correct. So many cheaters everywhere!!!

Some cultures do wear the ring on the right hand, usually on the ring finger and not the middle finger. This is how it is in Eastern European/Slavic culture, generally. In Western cultures, the wedding band or engagement ring is worn on the left hand ring finger. It's possible that he could be married - if he is, he's likely wearing the ring on the wrong finger.

Ring on the middle finger doesn't mean anything with respect to marriage/relationships. Ring finger is the one next to the pinky, at least in the west.

Frankly I know nothing about your region, but if y'all follow the "western" standard, there's a specific ring finger and rings on any other finger don't necessarily have social meaning. Doesn't mean he's not married, but I wouldn't know it to be an indication that he is. You're probably in a better position to tell me what the standards are in your area though.

Most married people do the left, here. But people are so grimey these days. The reason I ask is because it's been a year and he jist finally managed to say hello. Just seems like he is probably a cheater with less slightly less conscience than desire.

In Syria and in most of Western Europe (except in Spain where they use the wedding ring in the right hand ring finger) the wedding ring is used in the left hand ring finger and the compromise ring is used in the right hand ring finger. Do take in consideration that people in the Middle East often marry young and usually are very conservative.

Things are changing a lot in the MENA. They just do things discreetly. But make no mistake, they get down over here.

And actually, a lot of the young people are putting off marriage due to financial reasons and other factors. So things are changing a lot.

The thing is asking men if they are married is nit a surefire way to know the truth because they can just lie. And they do!

The thing is I don't really have any information regarding this that is reliable. There is a lot of information out there and most of it is contradictory and difficult to rely on. I would not want to tell you something that was not true.
