With all the dancing and strutting to fire a gun, they would have been wiped out before they even got to fire a shot.
Getting artillery properly set up to hit targets tens of miles away is no small thing. You have to know the exact position of the guns, properly determine and set azimuth and elevation, calculate the charge amount, determine if you want a flatter trajectory or plunging trajectory, determine projectile type (i. e. air burst, impact, mine spreading, etc). The battery commander HAS to know where the rounds are going to go, especially if there are friendly forces or non-combatants near by.
After the first round is fired and impacts, a forward observer will call back corrections (the result of wind usually), than fire another round to verify the correction. When on target the order to "fire for effects" is given, this is when the "King of Battle" (the 155MM gun) goes to work raining hell on the target.
I am not an expert in artillery by any means but I know the U. S. Army and USMC artillery schools are about the longest schools in the service (at least they used to be). As for the exaggerated marching, this is a demonstration so they wanted to impress the crowd.
The bottom line is that delivering accurate rounds on target is a process that does take some time, and yes, there will likely be "counter battery fire" as well.

Obviously this is a demonstration, which mean "parade rules" were in operation - they had to LOOK PRETTY for the crowd. In actual combat positions, all that crap is dispensed with, and people get to the job at hand.
Virtually all militaries do stupid crap like this for demonstration purposes. It may not always look quite so ridiculous, but it's still showy and unnecessary. If I was running the military, I would eliminate that crap on the first day, along with everything that wasn't focused on fighting wars in the most deadly and efficient manner possible in the worst conditions possible.
I guess they must eat too much curry. Their bumholes are probably on fire, and that's why they dance like that.

In some cultures it’s tradition to dance before war so what the hell, dance away.
Ahhh- ya' gotta love it!
Let's see- ( the fancy dancing aside).
At about 1:55, the announcer said it took about 2 minutes to get the gun ready. Check. But, it took another 4:45 to get off the first round! And, it WAS right in the center of the target- four diamond shapes located heaven only knows how far apart on a distant hill.
But, I did like the marching sequences at 1:57, 2:17+ and 4:05. Kind of reminded me of a few scenes from Hogan's Heroes.
LMFAO not gonna lie. I know us US boys act belligerent and make videos of us doing our jobs.
However given the context here, this is a legit presentation/ceremony.
I’ve NEVER seen anything like it, so yes. It’s definitely odd.Who's side would you rather be on?
https://www.youtube.com/embed/KX6OPMngT2gThis must be why they're considered such a formidable fighting force.
Oh wait...
The Quick and the Dead is what I say to that , never understood the point of dancing instead of marching
Can't feed tier people but they are playing with a strupid gun... pathetic.
