I ask not because I don’t know the definition of intrigue, as I do, but because it’s something that has come up throughout my adult life. I’ve always just took it to mean that they think I’m sexy and smart, and that somehow that combination is mind boggling for them to make sense of lol, which actually ends up feeling less complimentary than it does patronizing in some way.
But my sense is that that’s not how they are experiencing it and that that is just my own insecurities and projections surfacing when I privately take it to mean something of that quality.

Ahh ok I guess that aspect of it being some indication that they wanted to actually get to know you more makes sense because I find it’s usually like something that is said just after more explicit flirtation and perhaps it makes sense if it’s a way of conveying that they’re not JUST interesting in having sex with me, which kind of holds true in most of the cases I can think of.
