We were having a work lunch in a busy place and this colleague of mine was sitting across the table. At some point he started explaining something to me so I leaned towards him, to better hear him. As soon as I did that, he did the exact same thing, leaning towards me while he was still talking.. How can I interpret this behavior?
So, he might have assumed you leaned in to better hear him, so he leaned in so you could better hear him.
This act alone is not enough to make anything more or less out of then that. But if he leaned in and you noticed it and that made you think on some level, that it could be potentially more than him just being polite then you have to ask yourself two serious questions;
1.) Did I want it to be more?
and/or
2.) Am I being a little insecure about it and make way more out of it then I should?
Because you leaned in first and he only did because you did it first... so if you think there is more to then that, then maybe you thought you meant more to it than just listening better because you could of just asked him to speak up. But you leaned in first... so there is no greater assumption he should be making about you that you are now asking if you should make about him.

Uh well if isn't the classic overthink. It means he saw you couldn't hear him so he thought to himself I will lean also to make sure you can hear. I mean what else do you think it could possibly be. Don't overthink stuff like this. Especially about work people. I am guessing the only reason you are asking why he did this is because you have a thing for him or why even care. So if that is the case I will say the same thing to you as I do to others. Don't date or get involved with coworkers.
