There's this guy that I'm into who is new this year, I've spoken to him twice, the first time he approached me first and asked me if I was in a club as part of our assigned activity. The second time, I approached him and asked to fill out a survey. The second time, though, he only looked at me when I approached him and walked away, and tended to avoid eye contact. Other times, I've caught him looking either at me or in my direction and he turns his head away when I turn to his direction. Whenever he's talking to his friends who are also my friends and I join in on the conversation, he looks at me for a few moments but then walks away silently.
Why does he walk away when I join the conversation?
