What is an emotionally unavailable man?

I recently started talking to my ex again over a month ago. I have made posts about him in the past. We started hangingout in 2019 when he was in sober living then he went to prison for 16 months in 2020 and got out June 2021. When he got out, he basically switched up on me and got back into drugs and has dated/hooked up with several women who all messaged me how he is a narcissist, etc. He has been on/off using methamphetamines and is just a mess. He has a job and his own apartment so he is a functional addict, but the people he surrounds himself with are not the best. We hungout the other night, and he was just all over the place rambling. He told me he is emotionally unavailable, has no feelings and is a hurt person. He has been like this since i honestly met him. He told me he prefers to be alone and doesn’t want a relationship. But why does he date girls and hops from one to another?

A man who will not open up to you at all and is usually afraid of commitment. They will choose physical intimacy over emotional intimacy everytime. No matter how good the sex gets, he will never give into you emotionally.

Him dating several women means he's playing the field and not ready to commit to any woman right now. He also sounds like a fuckboy and if he is indeed one, I would stay far away from him. He sounds like a headache to be honest and you're right to be confused. That's what they do.
