He [M20] ignored my [F19] message for 11 hours and then proceeded to post on his Instagram story. Why would he do that?

He knew I liked him in grade 12, he flirted, but nothing ever happened. Fast forward 2 years he sent me a follow request on insta after he found out I was in med school (he also wants to go to med school.)

We started talking for a few days. We shared pictures of our pets, he showed his new dog and also his farm animals. Showed me a video of him talking to them.. It was really cute I guess.

I kept my cool, he responded in a few hours and so did I because I was busy as well.

Now during a convo, I guess by accident I replied to him with one word, he just liked the message after that and didn’t say anything. I was like okay, that’s fine.

I found a funny cat meme and decided to screenshot and send it to him after a day.

9 hours after I sent the photo, he posts on his story a weird meme (He BARELY posts on his story.) But he still hasn’t read my message yet.

It really seemed like he was interested in me, so what’s this new game?

He’s ghosted me before. But I never texted him first, and we’d be doing 50/50 on initiating conversations. So what the heck?

Is he just telling me that he no longer wants to talk?

Based on my question here are a few things about him:

• He has a chronic disease where he gets very painful migraines from time to time.
• He is currently 2nd year In uni studying health sciences
• Apparently, he told me he doesn’t like his voice “too cringy” Not sure why he shared that with me.
• In grade 12 he told me he found me cute but wasn’t interested in a relationship because he wanted to focus on his career first, he’s planning to be a neurologist.
• Also I wouldn't say he's extremely hot or attractive, he's pretty average and my friends said I'm way out of his league and that I could find a respectful and more attractive guy. But I didn't like him for his looks to begin with :(

TLDR; He ignored my message and then posted on his Instagram story when he barely even posts.

You're reading way too much into this.

I actually realized that my Insta notifications for messages was turned off for some reason. I had messages I had missed for awhile. That's just one possible explanation. He could have shared something to his Insta story from a totally different app, like TikTok and not even have gone into the app itself.

Look, it's 2023. Most of us are busy and distracted. If you like him, keep communicating and see what happens.

You can't control what other people think of you. Do you feel that you are being desperate? If so, that's a separate issue, but if you would naturally keep communicating in this situation and are simply choosing not to because you want to avoid him having a certain perception of you, then you are not being authentic and are only fooling yourself into believing that you have some kind of control over his perceptions (which you don't). Just be yourself and act naturally. Don't force anything one way or another.

Yeah, I guess you're right, I am overthinking way too much. Perhaps I miss the memories we made as friends in high school, but most of those memories translated to 'more than friend's behavior.' I respect his time and his boundaries.

He's really a one-of-a-kind guy, I wish there were more like him. The way he manages stuff, his voice, his confidence it's just so mesmerizing to me, I wish I was like him.

Do you think I'm too young for this stuff? I should just focus on my studies and ignore him?

Yep. 2 serious ones, the rest were just flings. But i never had any sex or anything, just kissed or spent time.

But this dude, he used to find any excuse to touch me in high school (He'd put his legs on me so I couldn't take my phone back from him)

I don't know what he wants, perhaps he was just bored and followed me then texted me.

It's been 2 years since we saw each other. I'm in Saudi Arabia and he's in Canada. He did ask me if I ever visit Canada, I said yes.

Thing is I was going through an extremely rough patch in grade 12, and he helped me through it. I know he had personal problems himself.

He has a condition where he has chronic migraines, he told me he gets them everyday and he may even have to go to the hospital a few times.

I did some research about this disease, it apparently affects their mood/sleep/and their daily lives.

To be honest. I just hope he is fine right now. If he's not replying to my text, but was very eager with the conversation before then I guess it either means he doesn't want to talk anymore or he's going through something.
