I have several people as my Facebook friends who are considered more well known. They have blue check marks next to their profile to verify it's really them. Recently, one of them posted that someone else was using his name, when it wasn't really him. Since then, he said he got the whole thing sorted out, but how do I know if it's really the right person... who he says he is?

Also, to add to this question, he seems to be on Facebook often, which I'd think that someone of his status, would be pretty occupied with other things. There hasn't been any other scam activity since then though.

Unless those people are celebrities and someone famous those blue ticks would be fake because you don't get those blue tick unless you can prove you are famous.
Also if they are privately messaging you to say their account was hacked and not posting that information publicly than its like not the real person
It was posted publicly. So I'm not sure...🤷♀️
Than if it was posted publicly and nothing else has happened since, I would say it was genuine
Facechat lol
Lol that's a dangerous risk.
I guess it is if you are scared of finding certainty lol
I'll find certainty a different way.
Well that was odd lol
