Why do men suddenly notice me in public even though I look worse than before?

I used to be invisible but now wherever I go I notice several men check me out or stare at me secretly even though I gained weight and I don’t dress to impress and overall just don’t look as good as a few years ago. My former crush who rejected me 2 years ago is not interested in me and acts super shy. When I see pictures of myself taken by others I want to cry because I look horrible so why do I suddenly get noticed? Did anyone have similar experience?
