Can a guy like a girl but still take a while to respond?

A guy i like that show signs that he likes me would take hours to respond and sometimes a day or two but when he does he’ll send me high investment texts (a lot of messages and show enthusiasm)? We never established anything between us, so I dont want to seem needy but im wondering if he really likes me wouldn’t he respond a lot faster? I’d usually hear from at most twice a day if im lucky, but he's on his phone a lot.

Ummm, no. Sounds like he’s not into you like you are him. I’d not go with any other excuse because I think of myself, I hate texting. But if I like a person you’d never know. If I don’t really care about them as much, then yeah my response rate is the same even though I’m always on my phone.
Your best bet is to mirror what he’s doing and see where it goes. Sounds childish, but will show you his real interest level.. if you were to start responding less frequently and he indeed did like you, he will try to pull the conversation back together. If he doesn’t, it will just fade into silence.

People are weird. There is a girl that I email with. She wanted to talk to me, but she takes weeks to email me back. Her excuse is that she's busy and depressed. It could be true. Anyways as a guy who has a learning disability and doesn't have much confidence, and is busy from work, which makes him extremely tired. I like to take some time on my messages. I like time to think thing through and then write something good apposed to a bunch of small messages. But if you want me to wrong small messages, then get me sexually excited, and I will spin off messages really quick!

It's hard to wait for a reply to your message, but the other person has a life and may not have time to reply instantly. The fact that he takes a period of time to reply doesn't mean you aren't important to him. He may be in class, at work, driving, in the hospital, any of hundreds of reasons he may not reply immediately. Do not equate speed of reply with depth of emotion.
