Why and what does it mean when a man or guy friend plays the hero role?

My guy friend the last time I seen him he was being kind to me by carrying my stuff helping me carry some bags I had with snacks on them, by not letting me pay for my full meal he only asked for $10 the meal was more than $10 he had also paid for my parking spot, a 2-3 months go by and he is still being kind towards me and he helps me park my car inside my garage he also offered himself to paint my nails, he was teasing me trying to make laugh he was also being flirty with me, both times I seen him, then he gave me a high five but the high five lasted longer than 2 seconds I was the first one to let go but I noticed that he was getting nervous and his palm was getting a little bit sweaty. And this all happened after I had told him and my homegirl that I had just gotten out a narcissistic abusive relationship which was last year. But then again back in 2015 he did confess to me that he had feelings for me but we never talked about it. So now after 5-7 years later he is now doing all of this for me. And we were with my homegirl but he wasn’t being like that with her.
