Seriously poor lad could hardly speak he sounded awful and he phoned when o asked how he was. I was busy but called him later to try and cheer him up and was oh the phone for an hour he sounded so poorly so I just tried to cheer him up

Think of it this way, he could've been at home eating soup and watching tv with no contact with anyone but he chose to reach out to you.

Not sure if he has romantic feelings towards you but it sounds like your company brings him a great deal peace and comfort.
