So I F20 have a crush on a guy M20 from my uni residence, the thing is he is quite reserved shy at times so it’s difficult to read his feelings.
We have mutual friends so we see each other quite often, one day he approached me after our friends left and we started talking which was a bit unexpected, he seemed kinda awkward at first, but then our conversation lasted for about an hour.
A few days ago I went to the residence library quite late at night to do some research for a project and I saw him studying so I approached him, he was about to head to bed since he had an 8am class the next day, but we started talking which turned into an almost two hour conversation that lasted until almost 2am we were again just talking about lots of random stuff and since I’m a foreign student I told him that I was struggling with learning the language and he said that he can help me with learning it. We also talked about some a bit more personal topics like childhood experiences etc. It felt like he didn’t really want to go because he stood up to gather his belongings but just kept talking for at least 20 more minutes
(that was like our third very long conversation)
Also each time he passes by me/sees me he’d smile and greet me even if he had already done that like two minutes ago, like you know when people greet you when they first see you in a certain place, but for him is like saying hi or smiling every time he passes by me in the room.
But my thing is whenever we’re with all of our friends together he doesn’t talk to me that much, I feel like I can see him occasionally looking at me tho I don't know if it’s just a coincidence. So unless it’s just the two of us our conversations are quite short and casual. So I’ve also noticed that if him or I are hanging out with different friends, he wouldn’t approach me but would still greet me.
Another thing is that he’s a really nice person so it’s very difficult for me to decide whether he’s just being nice or likes me…

Hmm sounds like this guy might like you! Here are some signs I'm picking up on:
- He initiated some one-on-one conversations, which is a good sign he wants to spend time with just you. Guys don't usually do that if they're not interested.
- Your conversations lasted a long time, over an hour both times. He didn't seem in a hurry to leave. That shows he's really engaged and enjoying talking to you.
- He offered to help you learn the language. That's above and beyond just being friendly - he wants to help you out.
- He smiles and says hi to you a lot, even if he just saw you. That's focusing a lot of attention on you.
- He might get shy around groups, but he still notices you and greets you even then. That's still paying you attention when he doesn't need to.
- Checking you out occasionally could be him just trying to look at you discreetly since he's shy.
I'd say chances are pretty good he likes you! He's probably just shy and private, so one-on-one is easier for him. Keep talking and see if he opens up more over time. Seems like he's into you - you should make a move if you're into him too!
He likes you. He's trying but lacks the confidence to be forward in front of his peers. School environments are pretty toxic with peer pressure.
