How do you know if a SHY guy likes you?

the question says it all. I want DETAILS and please be specific. Like tell me how he'll act and stuff like that :P And is this true, no matter how shy a guy is if he truly likes the girl he'd still try to talk to her? or at least be happy she did and try to keep talking? Cause theirs this one guy and we both like each other but every time I try to talk to him he pushes me away? but yet he still likes me like a lot? wtf is up with that.

Im extremely shy - and this is what I usually do when I see a girl I like

I avoid making eye contact with her - I try and only look when I know she will not catch me looking. I will pretty much ignore her and try and pretend she doesn't even exist. I'm not likely to start a conversation because I'm so intimidated and even if the girl talks to me, its hard for me to continue a conversation because I'm thinking about whether she likes me or not, and other things I can't control. Often times people will say I look really mad or serious but in reality I'm not - I'm just afraid of making a fool of myself.

Basically, in summary - when I like a girl a lot, it seems as though I can't stand her at all.

This explains why I've never had a girl friend, so this strategy CLEARLY does not work - and this is my experience - not sure whether the guy you know is as severely shy as me

Well I act like that around just about every girl, but around girls I like - I look as though I'm just deliberately trying to avoid them. Like they could be starring at me for a long time and I just will not look at them once. I walk by them, and ill stare at the ground. They sit next to me, I won't even acknowledge them. Not because I don't like them - deep inside I want them to talk to me really really bad, but I'm just terrified

Well Beach, there are a few reasons I've never had a girlfriend and I'm 23 - this is one of them

Well, I'm here to answer your question =P

- Shy guy...i was one of them but somehow I got over because if I don't I would never get a chance of getting a girlfriend. (I still got some "shy guy's" characteristics.

- as a shy dude, I always look at the girl I'm interested in or like as much as possible. After weekends and holidays I would just star at her when she is not looking. (when I think she is not)

- the shy dude of yours might not talk to you, even though he really wants to. because he is SHY, and it also depends on how shy he is.

- If you're not a shy chick, try talking to him as a "friend" first you know? you're lucky that he DOES NOT have a girlfriend like my situation. =( (bf)

- Eventually he would get more comfortable with you and hopefully open up to you and stuff.

Mine is really complicated :/ he says he can't talk to me & I don't know why. but every time I try to talk to him I don't know its like he cuts me off short, but yet he tells my mutual friend he's scared to talk to me let alone have a freakin conversation. he does know I like him back and that's all that matters right?

- ya that's all it matters but he might be thinking some stupid stuff like: "oh will I look so stupid if ask her out?" "what happens if I get reject? I think she likes me but I'm not so sure!"

you know those questions always stop a shy guy from ANY actions.

- He's scared because, he is a SHY dude! sometimes keep a conversation going while entertaining both himself and the girl (vice versa too) it's hard unless either one of you go out a LOT and have so much to talk about.

- As for me I have problem making a conversation flow smoothly. <-- that might be his problem too?

Lol well for me I think that he was too shocked that I actually came up to him myself. In a kind way I smiled and said hey and he smiled back! and then we started to talk a little bit at homecoming. It was awsome! But whenever my friends are around he never wants to talk and he doesn't like my friends, because one time I said hi when my friends were around he said hi back and looked uncomfortable. but with just me and him, he's great :) Yeah or he probably doesn't know what to say or somthin like that.

Also as I realize maybe I'm not giving him the greatest signs? or maybe I have been but he's not picking up on them? because sometimes I kindof ignore him. But yet he does the same?

Well if you sometimes ignore him, it kind of hurts him a lilttle bit in a way. you have been giving him signs that you like him and ALL OF A SUDDEN...ignore. don't play hard to get, (I personally hate that esp when a girl likes me and stuff) he would think you're just playing with him or just another girl who thinks his cute.

good question. I'm quite talkative so I would talk more and ask certain questions or say certain things to see how he is and who he is. the way you see how he reacts to what you say gives an idea about how he feels about you. sometimes I choose a topic that isn't even related to dating but I use some prop and then I'll be like asking if he has plans or if he's doing anything this weekend etc etc. he might smile or blush whatever. it really depends. my guy is pretty shy and I have to dig it out of him sometimes but I love shy guys. I used to be shy but I'm not anymore. it really is like a series of questions and seeing what his friends say . that might help.
