Why a guy end his text with “ take care” rather than thanks or best regards?

Anonymous

I had to text this guy at work for the first time, requesting him to submit some paperwork which were due. I don’t have any close relationship with him, other than I’m good friends with his best mate.

My text was super formal given it was work related and I explained to him that I got his number from a colleague, as he was not responding to his email.

His response was very friendly, but I was surprised that he used multiple emoji’s ( mainly 😊) and also using the word “take care” in stead of saying thank you or best regards to end his texts.

I understand he was polite, but I thought the word take care is used mostly for people who are close or travelling.

Sorry to ask this question, but English is my second language and wants to understand when to use the word.
