Most guys don't care about what kind of car you drive, and of those who DO care, most of them only care because they like to work on cars and would enjoy fixing yours up for you.
Something you need to understand about men: we use completely different criteria than women do to determine their value to us. Men don't care about your education, your degrees, your career, or your income, and so they're not going to care about your car either. Men care about women's youth, purity, loyalty, cooperation, fitness, and her ability to bring him peace. Make a man happy in those areas, and he'll happily work hard and give you everything if he has even a bit of morals and values.
If you're trying to impress men with your career, money, or "stuff" (house/apartment, car, etc.), then either men will be indifferent or you'll only attract the small percentage of very shallow or financially desperate men.
Nah a girl can drive a hooptie and it means absolutely NOTHING to a guy. That doesn't mean he won't still tease you about it. Because YOUNG guys care about cars. To them they are a symbol of status. Just NOT whereas women are concerned.

A car is a car & as long as your car gets you from point a to point b that is all that counts. As for your 1998 Jetta although it’s old it’s considered a classic car.

lol of course not. You have to realize that what women usually find attractive in a man isn’t what men find attractive in women. Women usually look at a man’s job, how much he makes, his height, etc. For men as long as you’re cute to begin w, then a good personality, that’s about all men look at. A man will date a girl who lives in a cardboard box if she’s hot w a good personality. On the other hand most women wouldn’t do the same w a man or even date down, especially if they’re making way more than he is. She may for a while but eventually she’s not going to like it. Men have no problem building up women, taking her along w him to bigger and better things. Men tend to share their resources more than women. That’s why when it comes to finances a man’s money is “our” money. When it comes to her money, it’s her money. Even if you rode a bus, if you were hot, cute, good personality, a man would still date you.
A guy should not be hiding you on the car you drive. The only thing that matters is if you and him have a connection and chemistry to make the relationship work. And I think it's good you have a car because I know girls that don't even drive or have cars. You having something is better then nothing.
Up until last year I drove a 1998 Nissan Maxima. It did what I needed it to, it was comfortable, and (mostly) reliable. It was the financially responsible car to drive. As long as you're taking care of it and not using the floor of the passenger seat as a trash can, no reasonable guy should be put off by it.
Men don't care what kind of car you drive just like they don't care how much money you make at a job. Men aren't as materialistic as women.
What they often do care about is if your car is messy with food trash in it because that shows how your future house would be. If your car doesn't have trash in it, and your things are organized so you can find them, that is what matters.
I doubt most guys care about that, that's more of a thing girls are concerned about with a dude.
