I know guys are generally afraid of rejection, but generally if a guy likes a girl, is he going ti wait for her to make a move because he's scared of rejection, or is he going to ask her out directly, or is he going to wait for her to drop some hints so he can make sure she's interested so he can ask her out? And how long does it take for a guy to make a move?

I'm extremely shy and have no idea how to approach a girl I like. I tried talking to my one crush, and it went about as bad as it could have. After that, I don't think I can ever try again. If I found someone I really like, I might reconsider this stance.
