Why do guys stare during intercourse?

There's this guy that I've known my whole life, we have always been friends but always liked each other and hung out but most recently we started hugging more and I kissed him on the cheek, next time I went for his cheek, he turned and kissed me on the lips with tongue. Then every time I put my hand on his jeans on his **** he just turned, stared deep into my eyes and smiled for a solid minute, he kept doing that every time i put my hand there then when we went to the bedroom and were doing things he just stared and held his gaze on my face the whole time, never blinked, just kept his gaze on me/my face. I'm not complaining at all, I just never experienced this before. Another note, before he left to go home, he kissed me on the lips goodbye and when I told him his friends keep saying I'm his girlfriend and asked him if it bothers him he said "no" so I'll take this as he really truly likes me and probably most likely has deep feelings because he told me he has always liked me and likes spending time with me. I'm the first girl he's been with in 10 years, he's only had 1 girlfriend.

to me he’s indicating he’s on a whole different level w you. Meaning he feels more than just the sexual attraction. He cares about you more than just sex. He’s enamored by you. To look at how beautiful you are, to take you entirely in, looking at you visually arouses him. Like he’s won the lottery. He’s twitterpated as the sayin goes in the movie Bambi.
