I don’t want to nag but I can’t help it?

I hate how messy my roommate is. He literally won’t clean up because he wants to do it only on his time and his time alone. We have a tiny ass studio for crying out loud! I’ve asked him to downsize because he says he wants too but always makes plans to hang out with friends. It’s gotten to a point where the closet rod is breaking due to all the stuff that’s on there. I only have three hangers of my clothes in the closet, literally everything else is his. He also put his dresser in the closet but can’t even access the bottom three drawers cause of all the shit. I dont want to nag but I can’t help it. Ever since I sat him down and asked for him to pull his weight when it comes to keeping the house clean (this was like August or something of last year) I’ve seen basically no effort (there was brief effort with taking out the trash but now it’s mainly me again). I won’t deny that working 6-4:30 then going to the gym and maybe getting home at 8 or 9 will make anyone tired, but picking up after yourself and not leaving shaved hair or blood (from flossing) in/all over sink isn’t too hard!! He’s off on the weekends whereas I’m not. Asking him to sweep and mop is a chore too because “he doesn’t have time”. I’m tired. I’m giving up on him. I’ve decided to clean the house on Wednesdays (my off day) while he’s at work and hopefully enjoy my Sundays. I’ll be moving in two years so don’t worry. Thanks for listening to my rant.

Girl, I feel your frustration hardcore. Living with a messy roommate is the worst, especially in a tiny space like that. A few thoughts:

- Two years is a long time to constantly clean up after someone else. You deserve to relax and enjoy your weekends too.

- Don't be afraid to call him out directly when there's hair or other gross stuff left out. Say "dude come clean your mess, it's nasty." Be blunt.

- You asked nicely before and saw no change. Now it's time to be more firm. Literally put his shit in a box and say clean it up today.

- If he complains, say the clutter almost broke the closet. Tell him to get his act together or figure out another living situation ASAP.

- Last option is talking to your landlord if it keeps affecting your enjoyment of the space you're paying for too. No reason you gotta be miserable.

Take care of yourself first, sis! Don't let his lazy ass drag you down. You deserve to live comfortably too. Keep standing up for yourself! You got this.

Don't feel bad, just stay on his ass, and consider looking into the possibility of getting yourselves a submissive male maid to do your household chores free. There are plenty of them out there, believe me.
