What does it mean if a guy is weird about admitting his feelings?

I was out with one of my colleagues and we were both a bit drunk. I told him that I have feelings for him and I asked him several times if he felt the same way. He kept saying “you’re a lovely person”

Eventually, he said he did like me back. What does his reluctance mean?

The more you ask questions like this.. the more you push men away.
"Would you miss me if I left?" Is a bit better, if you have to ask at all.
Poking possible loss is likely to get more emotion than getting someone to admit something they are in no way ready to.
