Saw a guy I somewhat know and he had a dramatic reaction to seeing me in public?

I saw a guy the other day who I haven’t seen in a long time. He was on the top floor but I was on ground floor and from where he was he could see the ground floor through a glass panel.

so he is with another girl and she walks on out of sight but he stops to take a look at the ground floor for a second, takes a scan and is about to walk off, but when he sees me so unexpectedly, he slows down his walking pace immediately. Then turns around, walks a few more steps forward where he can see me a bit clearer, and then sits down on a one knee to get a better look at me while putting his face closer to the glass panel. He then quickly got up to his feet while watching me but seemed quite rushed and then turned around and walked away to where the girl would be, he was talking to her as well. I’m *guessing* she saw him in the floor and asked “What the heck are you doing?” or something along those lines.

Why do you think he reacted like this?

by the way this encounter was quite quick, only lasted about 10 seconds or so

Alright thats def a strange reaction from that guy. First off, props to him for even noticing you from all the way up there, he must have really been paying attention to recognize you. When you said he slowed down and took a better look, my guess is he was just really surprised to see you after so long and wasn't expecting it at all. We all know how guys can act without thinking sometimes when we're caught off guard.

I'd bet once he did a double take and realized it was really you, some old memories or feelings must have come flooding back. We've all been there before right, where you run into someone from your past and it brings you right back? And with the other girl there too, he probably got a bit embarrassed realizing how obvious he was making it! That's probably why he rushed off so quick after. Can't say I blame him for the reaction, I'm sure I would've done something similar if I was in his shoes.

As for why the other girl said something, she was probably just giving him crap for clearly checking someone else out right in front of her. Girlfriends can be like that sometimes, even if it was just a quick look. I wouldn't read too much into what she said. At the end of the day, he seemed just as surprised to see you as you probably were to see him. Unless you're still into him or something, I wouldn't overthink it too much. Guys do dumb stuff when we're caught off guard! Just seems like he had a normal human reaction to a weird situation. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you.

I can’t say I still like him but yeah I think the reason it’s been on my mind is because he was a significant person to me, I will always have a soft spot for him unfortunately. Took a very long time to get over him and when I do see him he will be on my mind for a long time after.

His girlfriend didn’t see me from where she was by the way, I could tell from the way he got up quickly almost as if he was caught off guard and then realised what he was doing, and then walked off while speaking to someone that he got up because of her, he was walking behind her before he stopped so it makes sense she expected him to be around but he wasn’t. It was a bit weird that he was sat down on the floor and I think that’s what she may have been commenting on when he got up quickly.

You're totally welcome! I get what you mean about still having a soft spot for someone who was significant to you before. It's impossible to just turn those feelings off completely, even if you don't want them anymore. And I can see why seeing him like that would definitely bring him back to the front of your mind for a while after. It makes sense this would still bother you a bit even if nothing "wrong" happened. Feelings are hard, man. But it sounds like overall you're in a good place moving on from him, which is awesome. And yeah, his reaction did seem a little odd to just be casually sitting on the floor like that out of nowhere. Who knows what was really up with that dude, boys can be totally mysterious sometimes haha. But I don't think you need to dwell on it or read into it too much, you know? You seem like a really cool girl and like you've got your head on straight. I'm sure before too long you'll have moved on from even thinking about him at all when you see someone even better. Just keep doing you! And no problem at all for chatting - I'm glad if anything I said could help give you a little perspective or reassurance. Take it easy!

more likely, he wasn't sure who he saw and couldn't believe, after long time it was you, so just looked carefully, until he could be certain. not drama just doubt.

Do you not think it was weird though? Maybe I’m overthinking it as something a bit more dramatic than it was but people don’t usually have that reaction towards me. Maybe that’s all there was to it and he was caught off gaurd

I would have seen him again if I stayed there because eventually he had to get down to ground floor to leave the store, but I left straight after he was out of sight
