Why did my coworker call me after work hours and make a sexual joke when he knew my boyfriend was with me?

Me and this guy work together, he’s married and I have a boyfriend. We get along, but there’s nothing there for the aforementioned reasons. I’ve thought before he may have been flirting as he will tease me about stuff but he’s never done anything overt. Anyway, I took the day off and he called nearly two hours after the shift would have ended cause he and our other coworkers went out to eat and he wanted to tell me about something that was said. He asked when he called what I was doing and I told him with my boyfriend about to get some food. Anyways, there’s this waterfall near his house we talked about one day and he told me how to get there (in the past, not in this convo) My boyfriend and I went there the day before and my thighs were super sore from walking these crazy steep steps. I was telling him about this and how stupid I look walking cause of it and he said “don’t you know you’re supposed to be sore like that from riding your man in the bedroom?” We don’t talk like that and I thought that was just an odd comment to make when I’m a coworker and he doesn’t know my boyfriend. My boyfriend didn’t hear it but I was just curious on y’all’s thoughts

Hun, that is super weird and inappropriate that your coworker would say that. Calling you after hours when you're with your boyfriend is already kind of strange, but then making a sexual joke too? Not cool.

It almost seems like he was trying to insinuate something more was going on between you guys, which is messed up since you've made it clear you're just friends. Some guys can't seem to separate being friendly at work from actually flirting.

I'd be really careful about him from now on. Who knows what his intentions are actually calling you off the clock like that. Maybe tell your boyfriend about it so he's aware of the situation too - wouldn't want your coworker saying something disrespectful if they ever met face to face.

If he keeps crossing lines, you might have to shut that coworker down real quick. Make it clear his comment made you uncomfortable and you don't mix your personal life with work stuff. Don't want any drama at your job! Dude should know to leave that personal teasing stuff at the office.

We’re coworkers? We do occasionally have to call or text each other to communicate, and I wouldn’t have even thought him calling me to tell me about what I missed was weird other than the fact it was just randomly in the evening after he got off and obviously asking me that question

He's out of line using your personal for non-work communication. I've been with my team for three years and would never contact them at home. For urgent business I can page them.
