Would a guy pull away because his feelings are growing stronger, but he isn't ready for a commitment?

Seeing a guy for about 6 weeks who has expressed how much he likes me, but also told me early on he wasn't ready for a commitment. There's been some mixed messages so I'm not sure where he is coming from at this point, and I feel insecure/nervous to bring it up to him. The last few times I've seen him we've had a blast and been so connected and he's expressed deep liking and wanting to do xyz with me. Now for the past 2 weeks, he has only reached out to hang out once.

Is it possible he is pulling away because his feelings are deepening and he's not ready for that? Is that something men experience?

It doesn’t matter how he feels about you, he still doesn’t want to commit, and if I were you I wouldn’t be treating that information as some sort of obstacle to surpass. He’s been honest and told you he doesn’t want to be with you, so if you choose to keep dealing with him, he’s just going to assume you’re ok with this arrangement and whatever comes along with it. It would be absolutely nonsensical for you to take anything else he does as a sign of romantic interest. He is likely trying to get you into bed and develop a friends with benefits, it is literally all he is offering you. That either works or it doesn’t but don’t try to make it more.
