Why does someone ask me for the time and just walk away even though he carries a smartphone with him?

Dude asked me from behind and I turned around to tell him the time. After that he just walked away. Did he just find my face unattractive?

Can you be sure that he had his phone on him? How do you know? Even if you saw it... could be out of battery. No that doesn't mean that he finds you unattractive or why approach in the first place if he is that off put? Sound to me (without knowing him or having more context) he just doesn't have good manners or social skills. Most people would say thank you and acknowledge a person when they ask a favor. Perhaps he is just socially awkward or doesn't talk to a lot of people. That is very real possibility.

Have you never in your life done something that wasn’t sensible, clumsy, accidental, etc? If you’re human and not a robot then you absolutely have. For example, I could be trying to find something in the cabinet, have someone else come look for it and it was right in front of my face the whole time. Or walking out of the house with slippers instead of regular shoes. Forgetting the password on your phone or computer even though you use them every day. Shit like that, but the point is that I don’t think there was much thought behind asking you for the time even though his phone was (possibly) with him. It was an absent-minded, off-handed question, so please don’t look deeper into this, especially when you’re just looking for a reason wonder if you’re ugly.

And that’s great! But you should be sensible enough to know that not everyone thinks how you do, reacts how you do, or basically do everything you would in certain situations. We are all individuals.
