Does the popular class clown like me? Or am I overthinking it?

There’s a guy in my class, he’s one of the 3 class clowns, he’s very popular because he does good in sport and academics, and he’s very proud of his social standing, I find his demeanour towards me strange.

He seems to always notice it when I do small things like picking loose hairs off my uniform, or chewing on my pencil. I’m also often one of the first person he asks for food during periods where the teachers aren’t so stern about eating during class.

For the first two years I knew of him, he’s only been in my English class, I decided to take English as my first additional language in the third year, I am in a bilingual school and English isn’t my first language. But in the beginning of the school year I changed back to English home language, meaning that I moved to the bilingual class which the guy is in. When he found out that I’m going to be in the same class as him, he said, and I quote: “thank goodness, (my name) is in our class, now this year won’t be so boring”

The guy also often asks me random questions like my pull count, my relationship status, even though I’ve been single for almost the entire time I knew him, and he knows that. And he goes out of his way to ask questions about things I carry around for extra curricular activities, like my laptop bag and the laptop I use.

He also teases me a lot more than the other girls, sometimes he doesn’t even acknowledge when some of the popular girls are flirting with him.

I am really not sure if he likes me or if he’s just playing with me, and if he does like me, how should I even confront him?
