Why are men so selfish nowadays?

Question

They go to work, go home, play video games, and eat Cheetos. I think men need to man up and pursue women again they are too lazy and passive. These men want a woman to pay 50/50 when going out on dates, it's bullshit. Men need to man up and pay up and stop being a wuss. They only care about themselves and don't want to approach women anymore.

We need to bring back the times when men were men. We need chivalry.

Not going to happen. Men have gotten so many mixed messages from women it just makes more sense to back off and concentrate on their own lives.

To clarify, women got exactly what they requested and now are considered equal ( meaning 50\50) and are no longer considered the prize or special snowflake. That means you rank right up next to the bro down the street so they expect you to pay for your own shit.

Men also have discovered they do not need women anymore for companionship except for sex which they can find with casual hookups, friends with benefits and or professional services. It literally costs them less money overall. They find companionship online in games or with friend groups and do not have to deal with the hassel, drama or trauma involved with dating.

Basically they see zero benefit in it. Women want a traditional man to step up when they do not offer being a traditional girlfriend or wife so what's the point?

To compound that issue, no longer are men concerned with finding or providing for a family so again they see no real benefit in seeking higher paying jobs, so do not seek out higher education so they just have to provide for just their basic needs and that doesn't leave them much to spend on dating.

I think it is super weird to attack men for this.

Every day the news screams at me about a man who did something YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO DO.

On the London Underground they had a campaign about unwanted staring, and how it was illegal or some shit. Women want to control what men are allowed to look at.

I can count on one hand the number of times I have heard women say anything positive about men. And then it was always about some famous handsome rich dude that was getting their panties wet.

If you treat a group of people like a menace, eventually they are going to believe you and just fucking disengage.

You say men should chase women, yeah, good luck, I say. Enjoy being confronted with the laundry list of requirements you must meet for her to tolerate your company.

They HAVE "manned up"- that's the problem. They're increasingly realizing just how badly the social contract screws them over, and since no one's willing to renegotiate, they've simply shrugged, disengaged, and gone off on their own. They've chosen self-actualization rather than serfdom, and not only are you unwilling join them, you're unwilling to even admit that it's what they've done.

One needs only to look at women today to answer this question.

Men whereas it pertains to women has always been contingent on a woman's approval. But women really do not seek what makes Men Men anymore. Guys know they don't have to be Men. Most women have no clue about what a Man looks like anymore. Because most never had a true Man in thier life, neither father, brothers, or boyfriend. So these women fall back on pop culture, social media to tell them what a man is.😆 And of couture that's like the blind leading the blind.

The phrase 'man up' is only ever used as a devisive weapon to get a guy to do something someone wants them to do through shaming language and in bad faith.

What they need is good and positive motivation. This society is extremely negative towards many of them. And this can be the result.

The problem with that is most modern women are entitled narcissistic whores who simply don't deserve chivalry. They all think they deserve 6 foot tall chiseled millionaires so most dudes don't even get a chance. Men are also constantly shamed and discouraged by society from acting masculine.

Too many men don't workout enough and don't eat healthy yes.

That said there was never a obligation to be chivalrous unless you are in some brotherhood or to pursue women.

We should maybe introduce some colour system like in some nightclubs to signal being open for being approached.

As an older guy, I agree. I think our culture has changed to the point that masculinity is demonized. It seems like what we knew as chivalry might offend and innocent flirting is attacked by the metoo movement. At least that's how I perceive it.
