Why does this guy act nervous around me if he doesn’t find me pretty?

He always inches closer to me when we talk and acts nervous around me. I was told that I have a nice smile and a flirtatious gaze even if I don’t mean to but I’m hardly above average in terms of attractiveness. Do men act this nervous and giddy around women they are don’t find pretty?

Because calling someone pretty is pretty much a admittance that u are attracted to that person and he seems like a shy guy so I don't see him making that step easily what have u don't to show him u are attracted to him? Have u said he is cute or handsome?
