Is it weird to be upset about my boyfriend checking out the girl he used to like all night at the bar?

My boyfriend went out with me and a bunch of my friends. Some girl he used to like was also apart of our group and he kept staring at her slyly. I kept catching him and he would just look away fast. Then he kept giving me compliments all night which is unlike him, i’m not sure if he was trying to compensate. It just made me feel weird because he talked about her so many times and asked where she was at one point. It was making me uncomfortable and upset is this normal? am i being unreasonable/insecure?

we have been friends for over a decade and he said he started liking me five years ago but i wasn’t looking for a relationship and then i started to develop feelings as well. he’s always told me he only has eyes for me which doesn’t seem to be the case

It’s normal to find people attractive. But to go out of your way to check someone out in front of your partner is disrespectful and he even asked where she was at one point.
