A former friend (M55) was at a bar, fishing for a gal 1/2 his age:
- Bc he TRULY BELIEVES he's "all that and a bag of chips" he approaches her.
- She asks "Where are you from? Really? OMG! SOO random! Me too... But that's a really small region. We're cousins!" She tells EVERYONE they're cousins. (V. smooth, "innocent little girl" way of telling the guy to f-off/stand back.)
- He keeps trying his luck, complaining, "That's not true..." but the staff knows now.
- He's pissed about it, clearly fishing for a date/quick romp (whichever he can get). Yet there's nothing he can do/say about it.
A week later.. The guy I liked (G1, M52) is with me, flanked by two guys who like me (G2, M52 + G3,60). Tricky... Hmm.
- Photographer suggests a pic with G3. I say, "Oh, I need this pic with my boss." (He's not in my office, but he's a "boss," far outranking me (and I don't want workplace romance).)
- G3 smiles and looks down at me. "That's not true..." he says softly, his arm around my shoulders.
- Was he hinting at something? There's been more-than-coworker tension a few times, but I bring up an office topic and it always evaporates.
- Mission Accomplished: G1 heard me set the boundary and G3 also "heard" me.
Meanwhile, G1 decided to assert himself in the oddest way:
- Stood guard over G2 (a visiting West Coast cutie) in one hell of a cock block.
- Grilled G2 in a way that signaled, "lay off, she's mine" (though I'm not).
- To "seal the deal" without question, he basically stood guard and doted over me the whole evening, not accepting any of my polite brush-offs.
- Strange thing? Once everyone was gone he was on his phone planning the next thing. So there was no reason for him to be all "hands off" with G2 or anyone.
Poor G2 never stood a chance. (He later declared he was just lucky enough to know me.)
I ended up leaving G1 at the place alone bc his goal wasn't to get to me, but just to block G2, G3 and any other perceived contenders. (What for? I don't get it.)
