The short of it, most the guys who do this are assholes who think that they're being clever and complimentary, when really they're objectifying them and making derogatory moves. I don't think they realize what they're doing. I think they're just assholes, with no real respect.

I guess if you see a guy doing this, just ignore it. Take it with a grain of salt. Pretend it's a compliment (because in the end it still means they think you, or the person they're doing it to, is hot) and try not to react. Especially if that reaction is shock or in any way negative. They likely get off on the reaction... because again... assholes.

Thanks, it clears it up however my reaction would still be *he doesn't mean anything bad*, *:/* and *struggle to take it as a compliment*. I think those guys fail to realize that it leaves more of a negative impact (unnerving) even if you know he means no harm.

He knows he's not going to get anywhere as a result he just wants to make himself heard. It's like he sees her, and he's attracted and he just feels like he needs to express this somehow, and that comes out as a honk. It's a compliment, nothing more. Don't read too much into it. Women have the most cynical attitudes toward male sexuality. It's not healthy.
